Why NO Progress is GOOD Progress!

When it comes to the holidays, it can be very difficult to keep your diet and exercise “balanced”. There are Thanksgiving leftovers in your refrigerator that you just can’t bear to throw out. There are holiday cookie trays staring at you as you eat your salad in the break room. There seems to be a Christmas party that you just HAVE to attend every week for the entire month of December. It just never seems to end!

For many of us, we have done a great job in 2019 striving for certain fitness goals and are still working to get there. It can be super frustrating when all of your progress seems to come to a complete stand still during the holidays despite your continuous efforts. Well, I’m here to make an announcement! To switch your gears and change your mindset, that if you stay EXACTLY THE SAME from Thanksgiving to New Years, you are CRUSHING IT!!! No progress and no change is AMAZING progress because the “you from the past” probably would have gained 10 pounds over the holidays like everyone else! If you have been able to keep up with your workouts, balance your diet but still enjoy the treats, then you are WINNING!

The majority of individuals have completely given up on any sort of “balance” and their scale is steadily going up! The majority are saying “I’ll start fresh in January”. But not you! You haven’t given up. You’re staying the same is GREAT PROGRESS because you have been able to find that” balance”. You haven’t derailed completely like most. Keep “surviving” the holidays staying exactly the same, and then kick it back into high gear come January continuing right where you left off. You will be THRILLED to not be starting over like everyone else. And that in itself is progress. And always remember, strive for progress, never perfection!
